Have you rated your phone. Rate the HTC EVO 3D here. Remember Ricky, If you ain t first you re last. MeanRom user here as well. Underseer, I have do disagree. I am currently running meanrom ICS on my Evo 3d, and it is a HUGE improvement. And ICS on the Evo 3D BLOWS Gingerbread outta the water, its not even comparable. Now, I know a custom Rom is different than OTA, but at the heart of it it is STILL ICS.
My 3d is a whole different phone now. Faster, smoother, and much better battery life. The main advantage I have is no bloat and the BIG thing well, two things is NO carrier IQand the WiFi and 3g being shut off late night is done away with. That is one thing I m sure is going to upset a LOT of people. Imagine all the people that work nights not being able to access 3g after a certain time. Even if you prove to be correct about the performance, 2.

On top of that, there s this. Looks like it will also be more secure. Those two things alone make it a pretty big deal. Just for fun, I just got an unlocked nexus and a prepaid sim account with the mobes and I can mos def report that jellybean is pretty great, and the hspa has been pretty consistent in my neck of the woods. Just more of the carrot on the string. Now we are being told early august. Sprint, as you can tell by reading the forums, we are not happy at sprint failing to fufill their promises.
We were told the ICS update would roll out in June July. All this does is make customers unhappy, we do not apperciate being lied to. It had 0 to do with HTC or Google, much as you tried to con us into beleiving this. Tell us what you will, but we all know the truth. Giving the history of previous time frames giving about ICS update, it will be advisable to take this news as a mere speculations. It sure looks like Sprint has less technical capable staffs to accomplish ICS update in a timely fashion when compared to other carriers in the world.
However ample time should be allocated to Sprint to find their bearings. Most off thier staffs are sound in marketing sales and customer relations. But if ICS is already on the Evo 3d on Virgin Mobile, isn t by definition ready for Sprint, since it is the exact same phone on the exact same network. Can it take three months to test if users can ignore the Blockbuster app and or try to uninstall Nascar app. Are you suggesting Sprint Tech programmed android 4.
0 on Virgin Mobile Evo V. HTC Tech Engineers did that right out of Taiwan. The update customization is carrier dependent. The basic platform is usually done by the manufacturer. Isn t it the exact same phone. I guess I don t know the details about who programs what where, it just seems incredulous to me that the Virgin Mobile one had ICS in May and the Sprint one still isn t ready, given my understanding that they are the exact same phone minus branding.
I guess I m also just annoyed that Virgin Mobile has my phone with ICS while people who bought it first still don t. So what, I wonder, precisely are the Sprint-specific customizations that distinguish it from the VM version and prohibit it from being released until maybe August. This is kinda funny, my wife has the nexus a 4gshe got the ics update the first week in April and low and behold it s now going to get the newest version jelly bean and you say that the evo 3d will finally get ics in August what a joke we have been waiting for over 4 monthsI hope for Sprints sake it comes alot sooner.
Awesome right in time for Jelly Bean. I love constantly being outdated. That s one thing good about iPhone at least you don t have to wait on carriers. Ever since this so called LTE update my phone has dropped numerous amounts of calls, my service constantly sucks, and people say they called but it doesn t even come through on my end. I contacted Sprint in February of this year and I have been told by Sprint reps that the update would be final in April.
To bear with them and I will be completely happy with the upgrade. Then April came. Still dropping calls, no service, etc. Again contacted sprint and they said there tech were still working on the update to LTE update, but all my friends have it already and our waiting on the Jellybean to come out. We all know this stunt was nothing more than to entice people into buying phones that already had ICS on it, like the EVO 4G LTE and the Galaxy SIII.
Does this mean we will have to go through this same problem next year when they finally decide to release the Jellybean. I used to talk highly of Sprint, now they suck, there service sucks and there equipment suck. I am in total frustration. They sent me the Airave to help my service and told me it takes two hours to configure and when all 3 light stop blinking green and stay green call them.
Well its been almost 2 weeks and the damn thing is still blinking. So once again I talked to Sprint, and the lady told me thanks for your feedback, we will take that into consideration the next time we send equipment out to help a customer. Your crap doesn t work and its my fault. Oh Sprint you are about to lose a good customer. Let me explain something, a normal 10 min conversation was not possible.
I would have to call my friend at least 6xs during that 10 mins. My friends and family said my carrier sucks and until that supposed update happens don t call from my cell phone because it aggravates them. I have been with sprint for 12 years and have NEVER experienced this. They customer service is getting worse and worse.
And yes, they have credited my account, but I still have a monthly bill and they don t understand why I still want to terminate my contract. I COULD PAY ANOTHER CARRIER TO HAVE WAY BETTER SERVICE AND A PHONE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS. I doubt that Virgin Mobile phones have that NASCAR app. Maybe the NASCAR app is vastly more complex than anyone thought, and it takes them several extra months to port it from Gingerbread to ICS. It has to take a miracle to get a rep on the phone that actually cares.
Oh, and as someone who is already using ICS on another device, I just want to say prepare to be disappointed. The improvement from the user s point of view in going from 2. 3 was a much bigger deal than going from 2. The HTC Vive Cosmos is a top-notch VR headset and you ll have a great time with it but a high price and occasional tracking blips mean HTC hasn t quite hit the bullseye yet. The HTC Vive Cosmos is worth the money, if you ve got the money. HTC Vive Cosmos review the premium headset that could make you a VR believer.
Great graphics in most titles. Generally smooth setup. Big library of virtual reality games. High cost of ownership. Still cabled to a computer. Occasional tracking issues. The HTC Vive Cosmos is the latest high-end, high-spec virtual reality headset to hit the market, and it shows just how far VR tech has come in recent years, while also flagging up some of the problems that have stopped it from making its way into every gamer s home. It s now eight years since a fledgling Oculus Rift opened up the doors to its Kickstarter page the same year as the iPhone 5 arrived and yet virtual reality is still struggling to make its mainstream breakthrough, despite many products launching in the meantime.
While we ll do our best to put across our experiences with the Cosmos, VR is to some extent a subjective experience, and affects everyone a little bit differently. We ve been spending the last couple of weeks deep in a succession of virtual worlds, courtesy of the HTC Vive Cosmos, and this is our verdict on what the VR headset has to offer the specs, features, and gameplay experience you get if you buy the device. The good news is that many of the early teething problems are now ironed out in these devices.
HTC Vive Cosmos design and setup. It s difficult to make a chunky VR headset look attractive, but HTC has done its best with the Cosmos the blue grille on the front offers some relief from the black plastic that usually dominates these devices. It feels well built and solid to hold, though the integrated headphones are a little on the flimsy side. The bundled Vive Cosmos controllers look the part as well, with a nicely finished design that fits a human hand shape perfectly. As for setup, you type in the URL on the box and follow the instructions.
Your mileage may vary, but it only took us a few minutes to get everything up and running. The controllers come with fabric loops so they stay tethered to your hands just like the Nintendo Wii controllers, if you re old enough to remember themand overall the HTC Vive Cosmos scores highly in the design department it looks suitably futuristic without coming across as gimmicky. It s worth noting that you re going to need a Steam account to use the HTC Vive Cosmos, if you don t already have one, and you ll need to sign up to use HTC s own Viveport VR library as well you can buy titles individually here, or sign up for a 12.
99-per-month Netflix-style subscription instead. The headset can be adjusted to fit your head almost perfectly, and thankfully we re now beyond the stage where external trackers are needed, so you don t have to fit additional boxes around the room. The Cosmos is described as a modular headset, so you can add a different faceplate and external trackers if you want this will cost you extra, but it does mean your actions will be tracked that little bit better.
The headset comes with what s described as Eye Comfort Setting, or IPD Interpupillary Distance adjustment essentially you can tweak the focus of the headset depending on how far apart your eyes are. We were right down at the bottom end of the adjustment range, and it took us a while to get everything just right, but we managed to get it to a satisfactory level in the end.
HTC Vive Cosmos specs and features. Inside the HTC Vive Cosmos you get two 3. 4-inch LCD screens with a 1440 x 1700 pixel resolution each, so 2880 x 1700 pixels combined. That s one of the key upgrades over the original Vive 1200 x 1080 pixelsand it beats the Oculus Rift S 2560 x 1440 pixels too. There s an impressive 110-degree field of view and a 90Hz refresh rate here as well. The official recommended specs are here, and you ll need a minimum of an Intel i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350 processor, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290 graphics card, and 4GB of RAM to run everything.
Those are top-notch specs, VR-wise, and you ll need a fairly fast Windows PC to run it all. If you re the sort of PC gamer who s interested in VR, you ve probably got a setup that suits. As we ve said, there s no need for external trackers any more, with the six cameras on the outside of the Vive Cosmos able to perform inside-out tracking so the device always knows where it is in 3D space. We found this tracking to be fast and fluid, and this is undoubtedly one of the areas where virtual reality hardware has come on leaps and bounds since the early years.
As we ve mentioned, if you want to improve the tracking, you can upgrade by adding a couple of base stations and an Elite faceplate, and there s also an augmented reality faceplate letting you merge the real and digital which is apparently coming soon. Another upgrade you can go for is the 353 wireless adapter, which means you aren t tethered to your computer by a 15-foot 4.
5-metre cable. Bear in mind that you re going to need two AA batteries to power up the controllers you get a couple in the box to get you startedand that HTC recommends a minimum space of 2 metres 6 and a half feet by 1. 5 metres nearly 5 feet for your virtual reality experiences. This isn t something you can really play in tiny rooms.
Gaming is mostly a delight on the HTC Vive Cosmos, whether that s in newer games like Half Life Alyx or more established titles with VR modes such as Digital Combat Simulator World. HTC Vive Cosmos performance and games. The only game we really didn t like was a virtual reality rollercoaster, which took us a full five minutes to recover from back in the real world. Taking the leap into virtual reality can take some adjusting from standard PC gaming if you think about it, it s like having to sit right up close to your monitor.
You have to get used to moving your head rather than your eyes, and there s some pixelation in some of the games. Overall though, we came away impressed by the quality of the graphics that the HTC Vive Cosmos is able to produce. Room tracking was fine, with our walls always appearing in the right place handy if you don t want to run into them. In our experience, an hour is about the maximum that can be managed before gaming starts to get a bit too immersive, and you feel compelled to give your eyes and your brain a break.
This isn t exclusive to the Cosmos iq option depositos y retiros, and your mileage may vary. The 3D spatial audio that you get with the HTC Vive Cosmos worked well for us, with most titles giving you a real sense of what s happening around you through sound, and piping top-quality audio into our ears. On the software side we got along just fine as well jumping between the Viveport and SteamVR stores can be a little awkward, though it s not a dealbreaker.
With an official RRP of just about 700, there s no doubt that the price of the HTC Vive Cosmos is the biggest drawback that s not an amount of money that casual gamers are going to consider dropping on an extra bit of kit. HTC Vive Cosmos price and verdict. With the Oculus Rift S going for a pound under 400 albeit with a lower graphics resolution and refresh ratethat makes the HTC option a harder sell. There s a lot in the plus column though we definitely enjoyed our time with the HTC Vive Cosmos, from the setup to the graphics quality to the immersive audio.
There is a little bit of light leak at the bottom of the headset too we found. Hand tracking wasn t always as sharp and as accurate as we would like, especially if you move your hands in and out of the view of the headset perhaps a consequence of moving away from external tracking stations but we only noticed a couple of problems that were quickly rectified. There s now a whole load of games and content available once you dive into virtual reality, and the VR experience in general is less nauseating and a lot more fluid than it was when these headsets first hit the market.
If you can afford the price of admission with the HTC Vive Cosmos, then you certainly won t be disappointed by what it offers. A few frustrations with the tracking of the controllers and the software stores aside, it s just about the best virtual reality gaming experience you can get at the moment. However, it might be the Cosmos II if HTC can get the price down and maybe even go wireless that s the real game-changer.

Although there are no details on the exact release date or pricing options, we suspect the phone will be available for purchase for under 400 CAD on no-term. Huawei Ascend G312 is already available for purchase in the United States via T-Mobile USA, though it s known as T-Mobile myTouch. US customers can grab the myTouch smartphone for as low as 50 USD with a new two-year agreement, or for 350 USD outright. We expect WIND Mobile s Huawei Ascend G312 to feature the same specs sheet as T-Mobile s version, though they are likely to pack different bloatware.
Huawei Ascend G312 Arriving at WIND Mobile with Android 4. 0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box. In addition, it sports a decent 4. 0-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16 million colors. No scratch resistant glass coating for this one, so you will have to take care not to carry the device in your pocket along with your keys. First of all, it s worth mentioning that the Ascend G312 is powered by Google s Android 4.
4 GHz single-core processor and a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD 1080p video recording. Huawei Ascend G312 is equipped with a 1. There s also a secondary VGA camera for video calls. On the inside, the smartphone packs 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 32GB. When it comes to connectivity, Huawei Ascend G312 offers Wi-Fi, DLNA, Mobile Hotspot, GPS with A-GPS support, as well as Bluetooth 4.
Stay tuned for more updates on the matter. A while back, I complained about the design of the YouTube icon, saying that it doesn t fit in with the general Ice Cream Sandwich theme. I didn t say why, and so a few people thought it was a baseless complaint. That s not what Android 4. 0 looks like. The YouTube icon is just one more relic left over from the old Android, and I m not a fan of those.
The leftmost and rightmost buttons in the toolbar aren t centered in their tap areas. ICS Paper Cuts. This is one of the issues with surrounding the whole area around a button in blue it requires a more complex layout to ensure it is balanced. Here, it might not be easy to solve this issue without a dead zone in the toolbar; perhaps the blue highlight could be centered even if the tap area is not.
Just another dialog missing punctuation. This here is during the back transition from the page showing data usage details for a specific app. The issue here is the big gap you can make out between the list and the graph while the list animates in with a gap between it and the graph, the graph doesn t start moving down to fill that gap until after the back animation completes. This doesn t feel right the graph should either move down during the back animation, or the list should appear directly underneath the graph and have both move down together afterwards.
Apparently that Save to item is to add the video to a playlist. Not sure how you are supposed to find that out in the UI, though I thought it might even have been about saving the video to the phone itself. Could easily fix this by having it say Save to playlist or something similar. Missing a period full stop in this alert. Could also be improved by stating why it failed, but that might not always be possible.
I can t figure out what the X button is for on the Music notification. Sure, it closes it and stops the music, but so does a sideways swipe on the notification. Update Apparently you cannot swipe the music notification off, so the X is required. Why is there an extra button here, when the standard method works just fine. But why should you not be able to swipe it off.
I don t see the benefit in having a separate UI for this one type of notification. Andof course, the pause button does the same thing as the X stop the music and dismiss the notification. This shows the Gmail app, just after tapping to show images in an email. As you can see, it appears that I have now enabled showing images for all emails from this address. However, at this point, and even with the check box as shown, that is still disabled.
You actually have to tap again to enable auto-loading of images the check mark, apparently, only means that you tapped to show photos this time regardless of the text next to it. Incredibly confusing. Critiquing Critiquing the Critique by Jerry Hildenbrand. ICS Paper Cuts sucks. Notice I m not saying I think it sucks, or saying I have issues with the content and misinformation, I m saying it s crap and you must agree.
Firstly here, I m not a professional UI designer. I m not a designer at all, actually. I m much better at hacking away on some backend low-level code than writing about UIs. But I do like good UI, and while Android 4. 0 is a huge step forward from past versions of Android, I have no trouble saying that it has plenty of issues. I m going to disagree, of course. I wouldn t post it here if I thought it was crap. But, really, wow.
I m not going to force you to agree with me, but I d at least like you to see my opinions here. Because that s what this blog is my opinions. What, exactly, is a Mediaserver. Why do I care. Is it very intuitive in this list. And that s OK. At least we agree there. Which is exactly what I m complaining about. But, to me, as a user with a Galaxy Nexus trying to find how to improve battery life, I m confused. I m perfectly fine with a switch that shows all processes here, but I just don t think this is a sane default.
Welcome to widgets Actually, it takes just two motions here. One tap to open the drawer, another to tap the Widgets tab up top there. There s an argument to be made for Paul s suggestion Google loves swiping left and right now as well just check out the Android Market. But there definitely could be confusion with that in the app drawer. That wasn t actually my point, although reading my post I can see how someone might get confused.
My issue here is that the launcher s paging involves multiple in fact, a variable number of swipes to switch tabs. Nowhere else on Android is this required; everywhere else simply uses one swipe to switch one tab. Long Button is Long If your e-mail address was jerry. com, you would. Seeing the full text in a list you can have more than one Gmail account comes in handy.
My issue is not that there is text up there filling the whole width, it s that the actual tappable area for the button the part shown as blue in my screenshot is too big. I still think this. Then, you could put search in the upper right like the Market and only New Mail and Refresh at the bottom fixing Danny Sullivan s issue in the process. I d actually go as far as to say that the Recents shown by pressing there along with Labels would do better a level up in the app s hierarchy. Twitter is not Android Dropbox also is not Android.
No, but the screenshot I posted is rendered by Android.
